Can’t Help (Doing) Something Meaning in English

When we want to say that we are unable to control ourselves from doing something though we don’t want to do it. We use can’t help
Rule: can’t help + verb(ing)
•I can’t help laughing at his jokes.
•She can’t help going shopping.
•He can’t help smoking.
•I couldn’t help overhearing what you said.
•She doubts his husband. she can’t help overhearing her husband’s conversation with others.
Can’t help can be followed by but + infinitive without to with the same meaning
•I can’t help but laugh what he says
